Bridging the ESG Data Gap: From Fragmented Metrics to Executive Insights

In today’s regulatory landscape, ESG (Environmental, Social, and Governance) data is no longer a "nice-to-have" addition to an annual report, it is a critical driver of financial resilience and investor trust. However, for many organizations, this data remains trapped in siloed spreadsheets and qualitative anecdotes.
At Gabby Analytics, my mission is to transform these fragmented data points into a "Single Source of Truth." By leveraging Power BI and advanced data modeling, I help leadership move from reactive reporting to proactive strategy.
Below are three case studies from my recent portfolio that demonstrate this transformation in action.

Case Study 1: Executive ESG & Portfolio Risk Management

The Challenge: A financial institution managing a diverse $234.7M portfolio across multiple continents needed a way to monitor real-time compliance and risk exposure.

The Action: I engineered a central oversight hub in Power BI that aggregates global data. Key technical features include:
  • Automated Violation Counters: Real-time flagging of high-risk assets.
  • Geospatial Risk Mapping: Instant visualization of risk concentration across Africa, Europe, and America.
The Result: Leadership identified that 79.21% of the current portfolio carried significant risk, allowing for immediate corrective asset reallocation and a 20% improvement in audit readiness.

Case Study 2: Climate Stress Testing & Loan Portfolio Exposure
The Challenge: Quantifying the physical and transition risks of climate change on loan portfolios.
The Action: I developed a "Climate Stress Test" dashboard that allows users to simulate impact based on Severity Toggles (Baseline, Moderate, and Severe).
  • Certification Tracking: Monitored the percentage of LEED and EDGE-certified green buildings within the portfolio.
  • Scenario Modeling: Built DAX measures to forecast financial exposure under different global warming scenarios.
The Result: By identifying high-exposure "hot zones," stakeholders achieved a 3.4% improvement in portfolio resilience through targeted green-financing incentives.

Case Study 3: ESG Maturity & AML Oversight in Construction
The Challenge: Tracking "Social" and "Governance" risks, such as Gender Equality and Anti-Money Laundering (AML) compliance, which are notoriously difficult to quantify.
The Action: I built an oversight framework specifically for the construction sector in Ghana.
  • Maturity Benchmarking: Created a scoring system to correlate a company’s ESG policy maturity with its borrowing interest rates.
  • Breach Monitoring: Integrated a "Drill-Down" feature to investigate specific regulatory breaches by entity.
The Result: The dashboard successfully flagged entities with risk scores exceeding 80%, leading to a 5.5% overall improvement in financial inclusion and governance transparency.
